Aquafit is an aerobics session in the pool that can maintain and improve stamina, strength and suppleness as well as increase cardiovascular fitness.

Unlike aerobics on land, Aquafit  is low-impact and the cushioning effect of the water protects joints in the spine, ankle, hip and knee. It is suitable for people of all ages and abilities as participants can work at a variety of levels by increasing effort.

Aquafit classes take place in the shallow end of the pool so although you need to have some confidence in the water you do not need to be a great swimmer to take part.

Classes are 45mins and are great fun and exercises are done in time to music.

Monday-Friday classes. See public timetable for details.

Class Price €7.00 per person for our regular classes and €10 for our smaller circuit classes..

Advance booking is required – Home page.

Our Instructors are energetic, fun and with over 20 years of teaching experience. The throngs of regular Aquafit participants that come week in week out are a testament to how much they enjoy and benefit from these classes.

Eleanor says:

Aquafit is a great form of exercise in the water as there’s no strain on your joints. The water allows you to move freely and to work on increasing your heart rate without too much effort.  It is suitable for all ages and is very invigorating. One doesn’t need to know how to swim as it’s conducted in shallow water, and more capable swimmers can do their workout in the deep end. Come and join us; have fun and exercise at the same time

Top Tips for Aqua Fit

Don’t eat just before the class (minimum of 1hour before you exercise is recommended)

Bring along a bottle of water (add some diluted mix if you need a sugar boost)

No need for goggles. There are no under-water exercises.

Bring a friend along, you’ll have twice as much fun.
